We asked Sinisa a few questions so you can get to know him a little better before we resume training and games post Covid-19.
What is your playing and coaching history?
As a player I have spent time playing professional in both Yugoslavia and the Netherlands from 1986 to 1992. After I finished up with my playing career I transitioned in coaching as a Head Coach and personal trainer. Part of my responsibility as a personal skills trainer is working with athletes to manage their individual training and development needs in during the course of a year. This training is an essential part of the development pathway for young players who will move toward college or professional playing. Additionally I have spent time with multiple high level organisations which includes some time at the Olympics in 2008 and working with NBA training camps from 2005 to 2008. I was able to see some of the greatest players ever to play up close during these times. Why do you coach?
I am a coach because I love the feeling of waking up in the morning and being blessed to be in a position to help others achieve their goals. Nothing is more gratifying than watching a team or player achieve their goals due to hard work and determination.
What is your focus as DOC at WPBA?
My focus as D.O.C at WPBA is to help achieve the mission and vision statements of WPBA and to serve the community by helping both representative and domestic players become better basket-ballers than they were before.
What is you favourite professional/college team?
Personally I do not follow any specific teams however I do follow teams/organisation with great coaching systems. For example I follow the San Antonio Spurs and Gregg Popovich closely because of the terrific system they have implemented.
Who is your favourite player/s?
My favourite player of all time has be Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics. During the 50's and 60's Russell and the Celtics won 11 NBA championships and to me, that makes him the Greatest of all time (G.O.A.T). Who are some athletes you have trained?
I have trained a number of athletes of the years however some of the more notable names I was working with before Covid-19 included Chris Goulding, David Barlow and Alana Smith.
What is your favourite basketball moment?
I have been blessed to experience a number of moments within the game of basketball but I like to think that it has not happened yet. Sinisa alongside the Basketball Development team will be providing players with training programs over the coming weeks so we are ready to go once we return. Be sure to say Hi and introduce yourself to Sinisa once we are back at training and games.
