COVID-19 Update June 22nd

WPBA is anticipating that we will be given the green light to resume all domestic competitions this Friday morning in a model that is similar to the Basketball Associations that are located in Country Victoria. Country Associations are permitted to have 300 people within a venue which will permit us to run our competitions with some restrictions to ensure we remain under this density limit.

If these (or similar) restrictions are implemented; the following rules will apply for each competition:

Junior Teams (U18)

  • Each child is limited to one parent, guardian or carer spectator only

  • Siblings are not permitted as spectators

  • 1 x Coach, Team Manager & Scorer may attend and are not counted as spectators

Senior Teams

  • No spectators permitted

  • 1 x Scorer may attend only – this person must sign in at the venue

We understand this will be difficult for many families; however, it is important our return to indoor competitions is completed in a COVID Safe manner.

Masks are not required while on court during games for players and referees participating in an exertive role, however, must be worn while not playing and on entry and exit of stadium. Coaches (including during games) and all other patrons over 12 years of age - must wear a mask at all times while indoors unless medically exempt.

Although we will still need confirmation from the Victorian Government and Belgravia Leisure, we encourage all teams to be prepared to play their next upcoming game.

Given the unique timing of games being in school holidays we understand not all teams will be in a position to play during these weeks. As you may be already able to see; some teams have already preemptively requested a bye for these games. If that is the case with your team, please let me know as soon as possible so I can fixture you a bye for these upcoming rounds.

As always, if you need anything at all do not hesitate to contact me on 0451051998 or contact the office. Kind regards, Ned Weideman- Domestic Basketball Officer
